CAS Project - Helping Teach and Plan The Investing A-Term LO3 (Service)
For my CAS Project, I led a course I planned to do last year. In the fall of 2020, I and Sierra planned to do an Investing J-Term, but it was canceled due to the coronavirus after all of the work we put in. This year, I decided to revisit this idea, so that I could offer our school's community an opportunity to learn about Investing. For a few weeks before the course took place, I revisited topics to cover and re-familiarized myself with all of the material I would help teach. Then, for two weeks, I helped teach a group of students how to invest. Although I received help from the teacher and she taught as well, I had a very large role when it came to introducing all of the topics and facilitating the class throughout the day so that we could have a fun, productive course. The course required many hours of planning, and I had to be extremely familiar with all of the information so that I could properly teach the subjects. Being a teacher was difficult, and the experience gave me a deeper appreciation for teachers and the amount of work they must do to create a successful course. Though the stock market's poor situation stopped us from being able to get many speakers because the ones we contacted were very stressed and busy, we made the best of the situation and I helped create an experience that taught students how to invest later in life so that they could be financially free and live a fulfilling, financially stress-free life!
